When the Mill is over...

...It's time to say thank you to all the organisers, attendees, stall holders, and Mill staff; and to add:  what a lovely event!

My first time at the Steampunk Market at the Mill, and a most convivial event.  Special thanks go to Andy for providing a lift from the station, and of course to Tony and especially Kirsty for all the organising.  The event attracted a lot of very interested people; and although our Star Wars: steampunk'd workshop was slightly less 'Star Wars' than planned, a lovely time was indeed had by all.

Mr Davis & I also debuted our 'author in residence' attire, receiving a lot of positive reactions in the process, so look out for us in that at future events.

That's it event-wise for July, though you can of course always catch me on the GASP radio show every Thursday 8pm-11pmUK on Blast 1386 (listen via the tune in site for good reliability).  In July, there are two events planned.  First, A Curious Event on 4th July sees my third return to Doncaster, and then on 18th  I am in Walsall, co-hosting Southcart's Splendiferous Steampunk Saturday with fellow author Steven C. Davis.  This event will raise funds for the charity New Futures Nepal as well - hope to see you there.

One Mill-ion Ways to Steampunk...

On Saturday, I'll be venturing up into the north for a visit to Burnley, Lancashire, and the Third Steampunk Market at the Mill.  This event, now in it's third year (which you may have guessed from the title), is held in a gen-u-ine working textile mill.  Not only does it work, it'll be working over the weekend, with the steam engines scheduled to run at 1pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday only, the 1pm steam engines will be followed by more extreme steaming - as fellow author Steven C. Davis and I bring the near- legendary pun-fest that is StarWars: Steampunk'd to the event.  As usual, we will be expecting you, dear audience, to retell the classic first Star Wars film in true steampunk style.  Each time we've done this we've had a very different result, so we're looking forward to seeing what Burnley comes up with!  These are the puns you are looking for.  The farce is strong in these ones.

Of course, alongside the workshop, we'll also be about with our books, including daring tales of derring-do, killer robots and Victorian -style prostitutes in my The Automata Wars series, and more!  So do pop along to have a chat with us throughout the day if you're there.  And of course, you'll also find yourself able to avail yourself of a wonderful Victorian photographic experience (Note:  This does not involve actual time-travel), Punch and Judy shows, mad scientists, market stalls, apothecary and hot food, all while you're there!  Hope you can make it...
