Flash fiction, for the uninitiated, is basically a form of very short literature, and is a story form very close to the heart of independent publishers The Penguin’s Head. TPH are led by the unholy triumvirate of Rob Grimes, Neil Sehmbhy and James Josiah; and James himself is the instigator of the James Josiah Flash Project, which collects the flash fiction of himself and guest contributers.
This Saturday, 7th Feb, at the kind invitation of proprietors the lovely Scott and Amy, TPH are taking over the aforementioned Southcart Books for a day full of flash fiction, featuring a bevy of authors, each reading one of their works of no more than 500 words.
And yes, I number amongst this bevy, with an entry sneaking in at 499 words (excluding title!). I’ll be reading at 11:30 – the full author programme is below. As usual, it’s free entry, and there will be nibbles available.
Don’t forget, not only will Southcart be full of authors on Saturday, it will also be full of many, many, lovely, collectible books – and a book makes a far more lasting Valentine’s gift than a bunch of flowers (and books about prostitutes and killer robots are always a good romantic option - Southcart being of course a stockist of my Automata Wars series). So pop along, have a browse, have a listen and have a nibble – you know it makes sense...
