That’s right, I’m back at Southcart again for the first event of 2015, which this time is a day of Sherlock Readings, themed around the great Holmes himself (not Barratt) This might seem a bit of a departure for me - until you consider that my published writings, largely steampunk, are set in a Victorian style era; and the dissertation for my recently completed Masters degree also focused on the late Victorian era. So I've written a tale especially for the event (though what I’ll be reading will be an abridged version; the full story really didn’t want to stop in time to be contained within a 20minute reading slot).
If you have an interest in tales of Sherlock Holmes, then come and have a listen - but don’t expect straightforward Holmes style stories. With six different authors attending, many of whom have their feet firmly resting in the ‘fantastical’ camp, be prepared for something a little bit different.
Southcart Books, Walsall’s only independent bookshop, are once again our lovely hosts. Entry is free, and the event will run from 11am to approximately 3pm. The game’s afoot!
